With the second overall pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft, the Washington Spirit used their selection to take Trinity Rodman, daughter of Basketball Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman. 

Rodman, a forward for Washington State University, did not play her freshman season in the fall due to coronavirus. Instead, the Pac-12 is expected to play a shortened season beginning in the spring. 

Since NWSL players are set to report to training camp at the beginning of February, players selected in this year's draft will have the option to either report immediately to their pro clubs or report at the conclusion of their spring seasons. Players have until Jan. 22nd, 2021 to decide. 

Her father, who's widely regarded as one of the best rebounders and defensive players in basketball history, won five championships (two in Detroit, three in Chicago) during his legendary career. He quickly became one of the most memorable players of his era thanks to his play style and unorthodox extra-curricular activities off the court. 

The NWSL will being its 2021 season with a "Challenge Cup," an in-season league cup competition to be followed by a 24-match regular season beginning in mid-May 2021.
