Washington Football Twitter Basked in the Glory of Their First Place Team

The 2020 NFL season could not have started better for the Washington Football Team.

Not only did they win their opener against a division rival, but they came back from 17 down and sacked Carson Wentz eight times to do it. THEN the Cowboys and Giants lost their respective games, giving Washington sole possession of first place in the NFC East.

That solitary fact about a team that went 3-13 last season had fans rejoicing on Twitter Monday night.

Some Twitter users couldn't quite comprehend Ron Rivera's club in first place.

Even though it's only one week and the NFC East is predictably unpredictable every year, this was not the expected reality heading into Week 2.

Washington will have another tough test this Sunday in Kyler Murray and the Cardinals. Getting pressure on the quarterback will be paramount once again, though it'll be tougher to catch Murray than Wentz. Especially considering Murray won't have an obliterated offensive line.

This might be the game Dwayne Haskins has to step up and have a big game if Washington is going to win. If he can pull it off and Washington improves to 2-0, Twitter will likely turn into a circus.
