Tom Wilson Will Be a Game-Time Decision Against the Islanders

Tom Wilson (lower body) will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's game against the New York Islanders (7 p.m., NBC Sports Washington Plus), according to head coach Peter Laviolette.

Wilson suffered the injury in Friday's game against the Buffalo Sabres and did not play on Sunday.

In an encouraging sign, Wilson was on the ice for Tuesday's morning skate and skating on the second line with Richard Panik and Lars Eller. This was always the plan, however, as Wilson said Monday he would wait to see how he felt after Tuesday after morning skate before any decision would be made regarding his status.

If Wilson does not play, it does not look as if Laviolette intends to dress the exact same lineup as he did for Sunday's game. Mike Sgarbossa was recalled from Hershey to the taxi squad Tuesday and skated as the fourth line center in place of Brian Pinho. Connor McMichael was also out of the lineup, though he was on the ice with Daniel Carr.

Laviolette was unsure of Sgarbossa's status and of what the team's actual lineup would be for the game.

"Right now we're sifting through all of that with regard to lineup decisions," Laviolette said. "Sgarbossa got recalled and placed into the taxi squad and I'm going to learn more I think this afternoon on where we're going with the lineup tonight."

The defensive pairs remain unchanged with Trevor van Riemsdyk seemingly set to get his second game for Washington in place of Nick Jensen.

Coverage for Caps-Islanders will be on NBC Sports Washington Plus starting at 6 p.m. with Capitals Pregame Live followed by the game at 7 p.m. Stick around after the game for Caps Postgame Live.
