With runners on first and second and the score tied 1-1 in the fifth inning, he smacked an opposite-field home run on Thursday vs. the New York Mets in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Take a look:

โMr. Nationalโsโ latest dinger comes two days removed from him obliterating a home run in his first appearance in 356 days on Monday. In what ended up being a 7-6 loss to the Houston Astros, Zimmerman hit one of what would be three homers in an inning for the Nats.
Zimmerman, drafted No. 4 overall by the Nationals back in 2005, has long been a proponent of shorter spring trainings. He's never felt he needed many at-bats to be ready for a season. But after sitting out 2020 due to coronavirus concerns, he is back and off to a quick start in Florida. ย
