Ravens Coach John Harbaugh on Players Leaving COVID List: ‘It's a Medical Decision'

Ravens coach John Harbaugh vague on status of players on COVID list originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Ravens coach John Harbaugh didn’t want to talk about players coming off the Reserve/COVID list at his weekly Thursday press conference.

He began with a blanket statement about players coming off the list and said it’s not up to the coaching staff. Later, he added that the decision to not activate running backs Mark Ingram and J.K. Dobbins were medical decisions.

“They all have their different days when they’re possibly allowed to come back, but those are medical decisions, in the end, not coaching decisions,” Harbaugh said. “So, when the doctors clear them to practice, that’s when we’ll have them. Really nothing I can really say about that.”

The Ravens have 16 players still on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, but by virtue of moving the Steelers and Cowboys games back, could have a significant majority of those players back for Tuesday’s game against the Cowboys.

One of those 16 is quarterback Lamar Jackson, who reportedly tested positive on Thanksgiving last week. If that was his first positive test, he would be able to return for the Cowboys game.

Harbaugh, however, declined to comment when asked specifically about Jackson and said he’d answered that already.

The Ravens are set to get a good chunk of players off the COVID list in time for Tuesday, and certainly before Week 14 against the Browns. But as to when will remain a mystery.
