Nicklas Backstrom Scores Impossible-Angled Goal to Tie Game Vs. Sabres

Backstrom scores goal from impossible angle to tie Sabres originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

In two of the Capitals' first three games of the season against the Buffalo Sabres, Washington center Nicklas Backstrom had notched at least one goal.

With Washington trailing by one midway through the third period, Backstrom found the back of the net once again on one of the prettiest goals you'll see this season.

Take a look:

The impossible-angled goal evened the score at three just over halfway through the third period. It was Backstrom's second point of the afternoon, too, as he assisted on T.J. Oshie's goal earlier in the contest.

Backstrom has been on a tear for the Capitals to begin the 2021 season, as his pair of points on Sunday put him at seven total in six games. It was also career game No. 962 with the Caps with jumped him past Peter Bondra for third all-time in Caps' history.
