Mic'd Up Antonio Gibson Was in Awe of Terry McLaurin: ‘He Different'

Mic’d up Antonio Gibson in awe of Terry McLaurin: ‘He different’ originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

When Terry McLaurin goes up to make a catch, Antonio Gibson is taking notice.

The second-year wide receiver kicked off his Sunday afternoon against the Cincinnati Bengals with an impressive 42-yard grab on Washington’s second drive. Gibson, who was caught by an on-field microphone, couldn’t believe what he was seeing his teammate do.

“He different,” Gibson said, over and over as he ran down the field.

As McLaurin has proved since entering the NFL in 2019, he’s certainly no average receiver. Heading into Week 12, McLaurin ranks fourth in the NFL with 871 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 62 catches (93 targets). The Ohio State product is a candidate for his first Pro Bowl selection as a bright spot on a Washington offense averaging 385 total yards per contest over its last five games.

Gibson, a rookie with a team-high eight touchdowns, has had a strong 2020 campaign in his own right. But with McLaurin making plays all over the field, sometimes all he can do is stand back and watch.
