Miami Breaks Out the New Turnover Chain for the First Time in 2020

Miami unveils new turnover chain for 2020 originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Even COVID-19 can't stop the turnover chain. Miami University's fabled turnover chain made its first appearance of the 2020 season on Saturday as cornerback Al Blades Jr. snagged an interception from Louisville quarterback Malik Cunningham in the second quarter.

This year's edition has the iconic "U" over the state of Florida. At the bottom is green and orange representing Miami itself.

Here's a closer look.

The turnover chain made its debut in the 2017 season and instantly became a new tradition. It was just so...Miami.

The Hurricanes were not able to generate any turnovers in their season opener against UAB, but they didn't make fans wait much longer for the chain's debut.

For those questioning whether it is a good idea to share a chain during this era of COVID, don't worry. It gets wiped down when the chain is relinquished.
