John Wall Reacts to Bucks' Boycott of Playoff Game in Protest of Police Brutality

Wizards guard John Wall tweeted his support of the Milwaukee Bucks' decision to boycott Game 5 of their first round playoff series against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. The decision came on the heels of upheaval and protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where a Black man named Jacob Blake was shot seven times in the back by a police officer on Sunday.

Wall's tweet was in reference to the viral segment from Fox News commentator Laura Ingraham in 2018, when she called for LeBron James to just "shut up and dribble" in response to a 17-minute conversation James had with Cari Champion and Kevin Durant from ESPN's Uninterrupted series. The segment talked about a plethora of topics, including President Donald Trump and the racial injustices around the country.

Two years later, the NBA has stepped into the forefront to become one of the most progressive professional sports leagues in the world. The Bucks became the first NBA team to boycott a game with their decision in the Orlando bubble, but they weren't the last, as the NBA postponed the other two games scheduled Wednesday.

The boycott comes on the back of protests that have turned violent the last two nights in the Bucks' homestate of Wisconsin.

Wall also showed his support for the Washington Mystics' powerful pregame message, with each player wearing shirts with letters that spelled out the name Jacob Blake.
