MARYLAND VS. JAMES MADISON WHAT TO WATCH

- Maryland and James Madison are rather unfamiliar opponents. This meeting will only be the second time in the program history the two sides have squared off, with the other being an 80-76 win for the Terps on Jan. 28, 1987.

- It's also rare to see the Terps on the road this early in the season, especially against a mid-major opponent. Maryland has only played six road games against non-ACC/ Big Ten opponent since the 2010-11 season

- Junior point guard Eric Ayala needed to take a bigger role for the Terps during the 2020-21 season, and so far he's done just that. Through three games, the guard has been averaging 16.3 points per contest and become more efficient of a shooter. That tally nearly doubles his scoring average from a season ago.

MARYLAND VS. JAMES MADISON PLAYERS TO WATCH

Maryland: Aaron Wiggins (Jr.), G (12.7 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 3.0 apg). Wiggins entered last season with all the hype, and while he was great at times, it was an overall inconsistent season. What Maryland needs from him now is constant top-level scoring. Early on he's shown signs of that, largely due to his 50% shooting from the field.

James Madison: Matt Lewis (Sr.), G (19.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 3.3 apg). The senior guard leads the team in scoring and can be a force on the glass as well. If the Dukes are going to pull of an upset, he'll need another big game.

*stats and records were retrived Thursday, Dec. 3.
