Haskins or Allen? Rivera says 'it's Dwayne's game going into this week' originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
FEDEXFIELD -- Dwayne Haskins posted the first 300-yard passing game of his career and didn't turn the ball over while rushing for a touchdown, but his Washington Football Team still fell to Baltimore 31-17.
At times, Haskins looked pretty good, but in other spots, he underwhelmed. Regardless it was a much better performance than a four-turnover mess of a game last week against Cleveland. After that loss to the Browns, multiple reports showed that Washington head coach Ron Rivera was considering making a switch at quarterback.
Asked if Haskins would be the starter next week against the Rams, Rivera committed, mostly.
"It's Dwayne's game going into this week and we’ll see how things unfold," the coach said.
Rivera's comments came via The Team 980 postgame show and the coach seemed disappointed in Haskins' situational play, particularly a fourth-and-goal play where the quarterback didn't get the ball to the end zone.
"I wanted to see what he was going to do and how he was going to react," Rivera said.
The coach explained that offensive coordinator Scott Turner told Haskins the ball had to get to the end zone but the pass went to a running back on the five-yard line. The Ravens put eight guys in coverage on the play and there didn't seem to be anybody open, but still, Rivera didn't seem happy.

Overall, Rivera sounded a more medium tone after Haskins completed 35 of 42 passes for 314 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
"I thought he bounced back in moments," the coach said. "With him it’s managing the game, being consistent and making the plays that are there to be made."
Turner did a good job of working quick throws and screens into the gameplan, and Haskins largely executed. Still, Rivera mentioned "inconsistency" as a concern for his young QB.
"Sometimes he gets stuck on certain things," Rivera said. "These are things he will have to grow out of."
