Bradley Beal is still undecided on Orlando, one day before Wizards depart

The Wizards depart for Orlando, FL for the NBA's restart on Tuesday. As of Monday afternoon, they still don't know if star shooting guard Bradley Beal will be joining them.

Wizards head coach Scott Brooks was asked if the call had been made on whether Beal would go or not, days after Beal said it was still up in the air.

"No final decision," Brooks said. "As of right now, he's a go."

Though there are many reasons players could cite in opting out, Beal indicated his decision was coming down to the team's medical staff. He specifically said the nationwide unrest over social justice reform was not factoring in, despite the fact he is heavily involved in those efforts.

So, this is coming down to health and Beal's physical conditioning. Brooks also mentioned players and staff getting tested regularly for coronavirus when asked about Beal. That would certainly fall under the category of his health.

"As of right now, Brad and the group is ready to go down," Brooks said.

The Wizards could just be taking it one day at a time, knowing a positive test from Beal or someone else could change any number of their current plans. But Beal's teammates have been discussing their expectations and plans for Orlando, while in the same boat as far as testing.

The Wizards do not play their first exhibition game until July 22, so technically Beal or anyone else could go down and then later decide they want to leave. But Tuesday sure seems like an important date for Beal and the Wizards to make the call, given they will be entering the bubble and looking ahead to games.
