ESPN has given a lot more coverage than I would have expected in the last couple of weeks to Kimbo Slice, who is fighting Ken Shamrock on Saturday night's EliteXC card. And I'm not the only one who's noticed.
When the Kimbo segment came, Kornheiser did his best to sound like a knowledgeable commentator on the sport. "I know that Kimbo struggles in the ground and pound," Kornheiser said. "That is a very difficult place to struggle."
Wilbon replied incredulously, "When you leave the booth -- in 10, 12 years, when you leave the booth for Monday Night (Football) -- are you going to become an analyst for MMA?"
Somehow I don't see that happening. But if Kimbo is getting the sport more attention on the Worldwide Leader, I see that as a good thing. Even though it's a real shame that when Anderson Silva fights later this month, his name will never be spoken on Pardon the Interruption.
After the jump, watch an ESPN video of Kimbo discussing his upcoming fight.
