Richmond Endorses Redskins Camp Deal

The camp would be located on state property behind the Science Museum of Virginia.

Richmond's City Council is endorsing a proposed deal that would move the Washington Redskins' training camp from Northern Virginia to the city.

But media outlets report that the resolution approved Monday is non-binding. The council still has to officially approve specifics of the plan.

City officials and Bon Secours Health Systems announced the proposed deal in October. The camp would be located on state property behind the Science Museum of Virginia.

Bon Secours would build a $6.4 million sports medicine facility over the next 10 years that the team would use during the three-week camp.

More than a dozen residents voiced opposition to the resolution before it was approved. They questioned the deal's economics and what they said was a lack of transparency.
