Elected Officials From DMV to Speak at DNC

More than 60 elected officials from across the country are slated to speak next week at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

The list of speakers announced Thursday includes Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe and Eleanor Holmes Norton, the District of Columbia's delegate to Congress.

Kaine is among the contenders for Hillary Clinton's vice-presidential pick, while O'Malley sought the Democratic presidential nomination himself this year.

More speakers are to be announced in the coming days.

Democrats are making the argument that they are uniting behind Hillary Clinton following a bruising primary against Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. He is among the keynote speakers at the four-day convention that begins Monday and runs through Thursday.
