Brentwood Mayor Repaying $7,500 Owed to City

The mayor of Brentwood, Md., in Prince George's County said she is reimbursing the town for some unauthorized purchases she made with a city debit card.

Xzavier Montgomery-Wright is accused of withdrawing more than $7,500 from the city account for personal expenses.

She told the City Council on Monday that she has paid all but $1,000 of the total bill.

She also said she's found a new place to live.

Montgomery-Wright was evicted from her rented home in Brentwood last week.  The landlord claims she owes him $7,000 in back rent.

Some council members and residents have asked the mayor to resign.
