As GOP candidates hit the stage to duke it out during the second round of debates on Wednesday, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton made an appearance on the “Tonight Show”.
Republican candidate Donald Trump was a major theme throughout Clinton’s appearance on the show - with Fallon impersonating Trump in a skit in which he telephoned Clinton.
"Immigration: Wall or giant wall?" Fallon-as-Trump asked.
U.S. & World
The day's top national and international news.
Clinton said America was built by people who "worked their hearts out. ... Do you have any idea what it's like to work so hard for something, to be so close to getting it but then someone pops out of somewhere and tries to take it all away?"
"Are you talking about Bernie Sanders?" Fallon, in Trump character, asked.
Fallon later put Clinton under some rapid fire questioning.
“(Donald) Trump has immigration, Bernie Sanders has big business. What would be your issue that defines your campaign?” he asked.
“Raising Americans’ incomes. Getting more money into your paycheck,” Clinton responded.
Fallon then asked Clinton how she would intend to make college more affordable,
Clinton said under her plans, no one would have to borrow money to go to a public university or college to pay tuition and she would lower interest rates on loans and give people more of a chance to pay off their debts.
Asked where she sees herself in five years, Clinton didn’t hesitate to answer.
“If you agree, sitting right here, running for re-election.”
