We Want to Go Play: Water Spews Out of Concrete Pillar in Georgetown

The cause of the leak is unknown

Imagine the water park of your dreams, but adult-sized and, weirdly, in Georgetown.

Water was seen spraying out of a tall concrete pillar in Georgetown this afternoon. And it was a lot of water -- thankfully, apparently fresh water, DC Water said.

The geyser was spotted shortly after 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of 35th and S Street.

There seemed to be a pattern: Water spewed, then stopped for a minute, and then resumed spraying.

It appeared to be a water main break, but DC Water and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers are still investigating the cause of the leak.
