Suspect Charged in Slaying of 16-Year-Old Boy in Northwest DC

Police arrested a suspect in the killing of a 16-year-old boy in northwest D.C.

Yoselis Regino Barrios was shot and killed in an alley in the 1300 block of Rittenhouse Street NW, police said. The location is less than a mile east of the Rock Creek Park Golf Course.

Police responded to the area about 8:15 p.m. Nov. 7 after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found Barrios unconscious with multiple gunshot wounds and a man suffering from a single gunshot wound to his leg.

The conscious victim reported he and his friend were walking when the driver of a red sedan fired shots at them from the window of the car and subsequently fled the scene, police said.

Medics took the man and the teen to hospitals. Barrios was pronounced dead. The man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Authorities arrested 20-year-old Kevin Sorto of northwest D.C. Wednesday and charged him with first-degree murder.
