Smoke Reported in Metro Tunnel Near Friendship Heights Station

Smoke was reported Wednesday night in a Metro tunnel north of the Friendship Heights station, officials say.

An "arcing insulator" was determined to have caused the smoke reported north of the Friendship Heights station, a spokesman for the Montgomery County fire department said about 11 p.m.

Trains were single-tracking between the Van Ness and Medical Center stations as of 11:20 p.m.
