The convicted sex offender believed to have kidnapped his infant daughter at knifepoint in Virginia on Sunday is still being sought by federal and local officials, and he may be driving one of four cars, officials say.
Emma Grace Kennedy was taken from her mother about 7:55 p.m. Sunday from a gas station in Danville, Virginia, the FBI says. The seven-month-old girl's father, Carl Ray Kennedy, assaulted her mother at knifepoint and took the baby, according to the FBI.
Kennedy, 51, does not have legal custody of the child. He should be considered armed and dangerous, the FBI says. He was possibly seen near Seven Spring, North Carolina, about 6:30 p.m. Monday and may be headed to Oak Island, North Carolina.
Kennedy could be driving one of these four cars:
- A gold 2007 four-door Suzuki Forenza with front-end damage to the driver's side and a spare tire on the rear passenger side
- A burgundy Toyota Camry
- A blue Jeep Cherokee
- A Dodge truck
Kennedy's vehicle could have one of these three license plates:
- North Carolina plate FAA-1873
- North Carolina plate EKZ-5093
- FAA-1873
Police said in an update Tuesday that they are following up on multiple tips, and monitoring tip lines around the clock.

The baby was taken from the Kwik Stop on Riverside Drive in Danville, about three hours southwest of Richmond, on the North Carolina border.
Virginia State Police issued an Amber Alert and said the infant is believed to be in "extreme danger."
"My worst fear is that she is just on the side of the road somewhere or left alone," the baby's aunt, Amy Metzger, told WAVY-TV. "She just brightens our lives and she is adorable and happy and healthy."
Carl Ray Kennedy is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He has gray hair and green eyes. Police say he has a tattoo of an eye on the back of his right hand, a skull and wizard tattoo on his left arm and a tattoo of a skull with a bandanna over its mouth on his right arm.
His last known location was Randolph County, North Carolina.
Kennedy is listed as a sex offender in North Carolina. State records show he was convicted of sexual battery in April 2014 and imprisoned for nearly two years.
Authorities say he is currently out of jail on a $250,000 bond for drug distribution.
Emma Grace Kennedy is 2 feet 2 inches long and weighs 18 pounds. She has blone hair and blue eyes. She was last seen in a light blue onesie with dots and a white rabbit on the left leg.
Anyone who believes they see Carl Kennedy, Emma Kennedy or one of Kennedy's vehicles is asked to call 911.
