Rainy Week Ahead; Flooding Possible in Some Areas

If this last week of April is any indication, we should be in for a lot of May flowers.

The same system that produced severe weather in the mid-Mississippi Valley is coming our way, but it's undergoing a significant change, Storm Team4 meteorologist Tom Kierein said. No high winds are expected in our region, but there may be some flooding by Wednesday afternoon and evening.

The rain will begin Monday afternoon, continuing off and on through Wednesday. By Tuesday evening, rain totals will range from half an inch to 1 inch. Heavier rain is likely on Wednesday, bringing an additional two to four inches to the area.

The flooding may close some area roads as creeks and streams come out of their banks.

But your entire week will not be a washout. The rain will end Thursday morning -- just in time for the beginning of May.
