President Barack Obama made his second visit to northern Virginia in the past three days Friday.
Obama visited Arlington Fire Station No. 5. The firehouse is responsible for service to the Pentagon, and last year received a stone from the damaged west façade of the Pentagon in recognition of the response provided by the county during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Obama is proposing steps to help veterans find work as firefighters, cops and park rangers. He veterans who have risked their lives defending America should get the opportunity to rebuild America when they return from deployment.
The president expanded on plans in his State of the Union address. Obama wants federal help for communities that make it a priority to recruit veterans and connect veterans with jobs rebuilding local communities and national parks.
He said he wants to do all he can to make sure troops come home to new jobs and opportunities.
The president was in Falls Church on Wednesday at the James Lee Community Center to announce a new housing initiative.
