Police: Husband Person of Interest in Wife's Killing Inside Loudoun County Home

Police say the husband got into a head-on crash after calling a family member and telling them to come take care of the children

Several children and a dead woman were discovered in a Virginia home after the woman’s husband asked a family member to come over and take care of the kids, a spokesperson for the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.

The man was involved in a serious car crash about 2 hours before police responded to the home where his dead wife was found, police said. The man is now a person of interest in the case, the spokesperson said.

Saturday morning, the husband called a relative and asked for them to come and take care of the children, the spokesperson for the sheriff's office said.

About 6:15 a.m. Saturday, the man was involved in a serious head-on crash near Gum Spring Road and Mayhew Lane about, police said. He was taken to Reston Hospital with serious injuries. The other driver involved in the crash was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

At 8:15 a.m., police responded to a home on Gayfeather Drive in the Dawson's Corner community in Chantilly, Virginia, police said. A family member had found the man’s wife dead in the home, police said.

Police said there is no threat to the public.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
