Authorities are trying to determine what to do with a pit bull suspected in an attack of almost two dozen sheep on a farm near Funkstown, Md.
Joseph Frey told Maryland State Police that he confronted two pit bulls on his farm Sunday morning and they chased him into a barn. He shut himself inside, then called his son, who shot and killed one of the dogs with a rifle.
The other dog got away. Authorities traced it back to a home where the dogs lived.
Police believe the dogs attacked the sheep throughout the night, killing 12 of them and wounding at least eight more. It was described as a bloody scene.
The Washington County Humane Society impounded the pit bull and is involved in the investigation.
