Pacers Running Stores Changes Name To “Wizards Running Store” To Support Team

In your travels, you may have noticed Pacers running stores, of which there are five locations in Washington and Northern Virginia.

You may have also noticed that the Washington Wizards are currently playing the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the NBA playoffs. Verizon Center will host Games 3 and 4 this weekend, so in a sign of their fandom, Pacers' Logan Circle location will change its name to "Wizards Running Stores" from May 9-11.

“The Bullets/Wizards franchise hasn’t made the Eastern Conference Finals in 35 years and a series win against the Pacers would be great for our city, fans, and community,” chain owner Chris Farley said in a release according to The Washington Post. “We want to support our hometown team, even if that means temporarily changing our store name.”

Other chains have done this before. During the 2011 Stanley Cup final, Boston Pizza locations in Vancouver changed their name to Vancouver Pizza while the Canucks faced the Bruins.
