Man Breaks Deputy's Leg, Injures 3 in Attempt to Escape Md. Court: Police

Man became combative

A man broke a deputy's leg and injured three others while trying to escape from a Maryland courthouse, authorities said.

Court records show 23-year-old Mitchell J. Taylor was arrested on assault, resisting arrest and escape charges following his July 20 violation of probation hearing, The Frederick News-Post reported.

Taylor became combative when a judge revoked his bail, striking and injuring a bailiff as he tried to handcuff Taylor, who then fled, documents state.

One of four deputies chasing Taylor tackled him, but documents show Taylor broke free again by kicking and breaking that deputy's leg.

Two of the pursuing deputies sustained minor injuries in a struggle with Taylor before he was subdued.

It isn't clear if Taylor has an attorney.
