How to Compare Alternative Energy Suppliers

High utility bills can bust your budget. Meanwhile, alternative energy suppliers, also known as third-party companies, solicit consumers and often sell cheaper rates.

But before you sign up, read the fine print and compare the rates to your public utility.

A variable rate and can change at any time, while a fixed rate will lock you in at a rate for the duration of the contract, but may roll over to a variable rate after that.
