Homeless Man Killed In Hit-And-Run

Police have car, still looking for driver

Police in Fairfax City are looking for the driver of an SUV that struck and killed a homeless man early Saturday morning.

Police say the 62-year-old man was struck by a Jeep Compass at 1:13 a.m. in front of 9865 Fairfax Boulevard (Route 50). Authorities say that an eyewitness to the accident followed the SUV into Arlington County, where the car was recovered by police.

Investigators say that the Compass is currently sitting in Fairfax City's impound lot. However, the driver has not yet been found.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
