A 52-year-old woman found dead in her apartment Wednesday was murdered, Frederick Police said.
Gloria Watson was assaulted and killed in her home on the 400 block of Heather Ridge Drive in Frederick, according to a preliminary investigation. Her body was found shortly after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The victim was transported to Baltimore for an autopsy to officially determine the cause and manner of death.
Neighbors remembered the woman some knew as "Miss Gloria" as friendly.
"She was a very nice woman," one resident of her apartment building said.
Investigators searched for evidence all day Thursday, neighbors said.
Her death is the city's first homicide in 2015.
