The Montgomery County School Board is reviewing its rules on fliers after students took home a controversial message about gay people in their backpacks on report card day.
Last month, a flier from the group Parents and Friends of Ex-gays and Gays was distributed at five high schools.
The non-profit organization urges gay people to change their sexual orientation.
Superintendant Joshua P. Starr wasn’t happy about the flier’s message, according to The Washington Post.
Superintendent Joshua P. Starr called the fliers “reprehensible and deplorable” at a town hall meeting at Wootton High School after two teens asked how he planned to respond. But he and other officials have said the law prevents interfering with the fliers’ distribution.
The committee is expected to meet March 20.
