BETHESDA, Md. -- A group of citizens subdued a bank robber in Bethesda Friday afternoon.
The robber entered the Bank of America in the 7300 block of Wisconsin Avenue at about 4 p.m. and announced the robbery, then pepper-sprayed a teller.
The robber fled, but bank employees and citizens in the area pursued him. They caught him near an ice cream shop and took him to the ground, police said.
Police were all over the area preparing for President Barack Obama's motorcade to his daughter's school for a president-teacher conference, so officers got to the scene fast.
Investigators believe the suspect robbed the same bank two weeks ago.
