2 Cars in 2 Months: Another Car Crashes Into DC Gelato Shop

A northeast Washington gelato shop experienced jarring déjà vu Wednesday morning when a car crashed into the building for the second time.

For the second time in two months, a car has crashed through the front glass at the Dolcezza Factory gelato store in the 500 block of Penn Street NE.

"I was shocked," said Dolcezza co-owner Alex Gable. "It's just one of those things where you wonder how this could happen twice."

The crash happened two months to the day since another accident. On Jan. 9, a Mercedes SUV crashed through the front glass at Dolcezza.

The store has been under repair since then. Until it's fully operational, Dolcezza is serving as a production and training facility for employees.

There were only a few people inside the store at the time of Wednesday's accident, but they were not hurt.

When asked if they would consider leaving the location, Gable said, "absolutely not."
