A store employee stepped in to stop a huge baby formula heist in Loudoun County on Tuesday.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office says on December 6, a man was observed tottering out of the Town Center Plaza in Sterling with a heavily-loaded shopping cart.
The suspect, described as a 6-foot-tall black man with a thin mustache and wearing glasses, had 85 containers of boxed baby formula, according to police.
He was on his way to a Ford Expedition in the parking lot when a store employee stopped him. The cart was left behind, but the suspect took off in the Ford, according to investigators.
The incident is reminiscent of a recent string of robberies In Maryland, where police have battled thieves stealing large quantities of laundry detergent.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said a case in the Sterling theft is pending.
