Virginia Teen Pleads Guilty to Killing Mother Over Boy

Girl says mother stood between her and her boyfriend

A Stafford County teenager has pleaded guilty to killing her mother because she said the mother stood in the way of her true love.

Ashleigh Nicole Dye, 18, pleaded guilty Tuesday in her mother's July death, the Free Lance-Star of Fredericksburg reported.

Dye shot her mother in the face and chest with a 12-gauge shotgun, stabbed her multiple times, tossed around items to make it look like a robbery, and went to a fast food restaurant, prosecutors said.

Dye eventually told police her mother “pushed her too far” and was standing between her and her boyfriend.

Eddie Chewning, 19, is accused of helping Dye plan the murder. His trial has not been set.

Dye faces up to life in prison when she is sentenced April 20.
