Va. Carjacking Suspects Caught in Kansas

Two men wanted in connection with a carjacking and robbery in Sterling, Va., were arrested in Kansas, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

On Friday, a woman was leaving a CVS pharmacy in Sterling and carrying her toddler when a man held an unknown object to her neck and demanded money, deputies said. The woman gave the robber her purse, and he left the scene in her car.

The stolen car information was entered into the NCIC database, and on Sunday, police in Garden City, Kansas, found the stolen vehicle and took the two occupants into custody, authorities said.

Jorge Alberto Castillo, 27, of Sterling, was charged with carjacking and abduction. Juan Pablo Portillo-Alvarenga, 22, of Sterling, has been charged with receiving stolen property. Both were charged with possession of stolen property and possession of stolen credit cards belonging to the victim.

Virginia has authorized extradition of the two.
