Underground Transformer Blows Up in Northwest

No significant injuries or power outages reported

No significant injuries were reported after an underground transformer exploded in Northwest D.C. Sunday afternoon.

It happenened shortly after 1:00 p.m. in front of an Au Bon Pain store near the intersection of 19th and M Streets, Northwest. News4's Derrick Ward reported that one person was being examined at the scene after some oil landed on him and his car.

There were no reports of any power outages. PEPCO crews are on the scene to asses the damage.
