T-Bone Accident Kills Two, Injures Three

Two people were killed after a car tried to make a turn against a red light and was hit by another car early Sunday morning in Manassas, Va.

Police said a Honda Civic was traveling south on Dumfries Road and trying to turn left on a red light at the intersection with Minnieville Road. However, a GMC Envoy, traveling northbound and with a green light, T-boned the Civic and the smaller car immediately caught fire.

Two first responders used fire extinguishers and were able to cut the seatbelts and remove the Civic driver and a rear passenger. The front seat passenger was trapped inside the vehicle and was unable to escape until Fire and Rescue crews arrived.

The rear passenger, Francisa Knauf, 60, of Triangle, Va., was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and the front passenger were transported to an area hospital where the front seat passenger, Gisela Zuniga, 35, of Woodbridge, died.

The driver and passenger of the Envoy were also transported to the hospital where they were treated and released.
