Someone has carved and painted swastikas on elevators on Georgetown University's campus.
A swastika was found carved onto the inside of an elevator at Village C West, an on-campus residence hall, university officials said in an email sent on Thursday.
Two more swastikas were discovered painted inside the elevator at another student dorm Wednesday night, according to the Anti-Defamation League.
The vandalism mirrors similar bias-related incidents that have happened at Georgetown University in recent years. Anti-semitic graffiti was found in May near a campus Jewish meeting space.
"Swastika graffiti has been utilized increasingly to create a climate of fear and intimidation. This racist and anti-Semitic symbol must always be taken seriously, and responded to appropriately," Doron Ezickson, regional director for the Anti-Defamation League Washington, D.C., said in a statement.
