A state agency is working to provide public access to a nature preserve in Stafford County.
The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation has asked the Virginia Marine Commission for a permit to install a boardwalk and three observation decks at Crow's Nest Natural Area Preserve.
The conservation department also is seeking permission to install a floating dock with a canoe launch along Accokeek Creek.
Mike Lott with the Division of Natural Heritage tells The Free Lance-Star that the agency hopes to open the preserve by the end of 2014.
The conservation department acquired the 2,872-acre property in 2009.
Lott says volunteers have been building and refurbishing trails on the property.
