Police have identified the man found dead on Kent Avenue in Charles County as 32-year-old Martin Hawkins, of La Plata, Md.
Deputies were on their patrol route at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when they heard gunshots near Charles Street.
Police found Hawkins' body behind a building on the 200 block of Kent Avenue after searching the area. Hawkins was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police.
Authorities said there is no clear motive at this time and ask anyone with information to please call the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
