Several Dead in Shooting Spree in Virginia

Several people have been killed, including one police officer, after a shooting in Southwestern Virginia Sunday afternoon.

It happened in Grundy, which is in Buchanan County, Virginia. Our NBC affiliate in Bluefield, Va is reporting that three other police deputies are among the wounded.


Emergency dispatchers say a man began shooting at deputies with a rifle from a mountainous area near the intersection of State Routes 620 and 83 around 3 p.m.


Officers from several different Southwest Virginia departments are actively searching for the suspect.   The conditions of the wounded deputies are not known.
