School Bus Driver Accused of Putting Bounty on Teen

Woman charged in snowball attack

STERLING, Va. -- A school bus driver allegedly offered students cash to throw snowballs at one 13-year-old boy.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office arrested 34-year-old Katina M. Mitchell, of Sterling, Va., Wednesday and charged with seven counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Mitchell jumped in to a verbal tussle between two students Tuesday afternoon during her route from River Bend Middle School in Sterling, authorities said. She's accused of getting on the bus' PA system and offering varying amounts of money to students to either throw snowballs at the 13-year-old (for $5) or stuff snow down his shirt ($20).

When they got off the bus, several students complied. The target's father called police.

The boy was not seriously injured by the snowballs.

Mitchell has been suspended from duty and is on paid leave, according to the school system.
