Suspect Arrested for Firing Gun at One Loudoun in Ashburn; No Injuries

A suspect who fired shots into the air at One Loudoun in Ashburn, Virginia, Friday night has turned himself into police.

John H. Abel, 48, was in an argument with a woman on Easthampton Plaza when he fired a gun and then threatened to harm himself about 9 p.m., the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.

The woman managed to wrestle the gun from Abel and then he ran off, the sheriff's office said.

No one was injured, the sheriff's office said.

Authorities told residents to avoid the area as they searched for Abel. Video from Chopper4 showed deputies in a parking lot near the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.

Abel, of Catlett, Virginia, turned himself in on Saturday on charges of domestic assault, brandishing a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm and discharging a firearm in a public place, the sheriff's office said.

One Loudoun is a shopping and retail development described as Loudoun County's "downtown."
