There will be an increased police presence at a Burtonsville, Maryland, high school Thursday after someone threatened to "shoot up" the school online.
Montgomery County police say they received a number of 911 calls after a message threatening students at Paint Branch High School was posted on Twitter just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
"Attention PBHS students," the now-deleted tweet read. "At 12pm tomorrow I'm gonna shoot the place up after PARCC."
The hashtags #paintbranch and #dontcometoschooltomorrow were also used in the message. PARCC is a college- and career-readiness assessment that will given at the school Thursday.
There will be an increased police and security presence when the school opens, Myriam Yarbrough, the principal of Paint Branch High School, said.
Montgomery County police are investigating the threat.
