A bear was captured after being chased up a tree by dogs in Woodbridge, Virginia.
Four dogs chased the bear up a tree about 1 p.m. in the backyard of a home in the 4300 block of Kentland Drive, a neighbor said.
After being shot with a tranquilizer gun about 3:30 p.m., the bear climbed out of the tree and ran across streets and through yards toward Prince William Parkway, but police tracked and caught the bear went it passed out because of the tranquilizer. They plan to return the bear to the wild.
Animal control also went to the scene to assist.
"The growth with all of the construction around here is causing the animals no refuge, nowhere to go, so what they're coming out of their home into our home," neighbor Korey Johnson said.
Neighbor Donald Hines said he has never seen a bear in the neighborhood for 35 years.
"My wife came to the basement door, and she said, 'There's a policeman outside saying, "Bring your cats in because there's a bear in the tree,"' and I looked at her," Hines said. "I said, 'What's in a tree?' She said, 'A bear.' And I said, 'A B-E-A-R?' And she said, 'Yeah.'"

Last week, Barry Turner of Centreville thought a big black lab was getting into his trash when he realized it was a black bear. Animal control told Turner it might be the same young bear seen steps away from a parking garage in Herndon.
