A pedestrian accident that happened in the Piney Branch area of Silver Spring, Md., is now being investigated as a fatal hit-and-run, according to Montgomery County Police.
Danny Elizabeth Alay-Mateo passed away Tuesday morning as a result of injuries she sustained in the September 25 collision. She was a 22-year-old resident of Silver Spring.
Police say a dark colored vehicle struck Alay-Mateo in the 8700 block of Carroll Avenue and fled the scene.
Police describe the vehicle as a 1994-1998 GMC Jimmy, Chevy S-10 pick-up truck, Chevy Blazer, or Oldsmobile Bravada. There might be damage to the right front headlight, hood, and windshield. The right side rear view mirror was found at the scene, but police believe the housing compartment is still attached to the vehicle.
