The Outer Loop of the Capital Beltway is closed in Maryland after a crash, and two people are hurt, officials say.

Two men have serious injuries after the crash. One man was hit while he was outside his tractor-trailer, Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department spokesman Mark Brady said. The second man was trapped inside his SUV.

According to the preliminary investigation, the driver of the SUV hit the tractor-trailer driver as the second man tried to change a tire on the side of the highway.

The SUV driver swiped the tractor-trailer, swerved across all lanes of traffic and hit a guardrail, Brady said.

Prince George's County medics are on the scene.
