Dominion Virginia Power customers may notice a higher amount due on their next bill.
The State Corporation Commission approved a fuel rate request by the power company. It goes into effect this Friday, July 1.
The average increase breaks down like this: $4.86 for 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity. That’s an average bill of $108.77.
Dominion said it needs the rate hike to offset rising fuel prices, and to make up for last year's harsher-than-normal summer and winter.
