A Montgomery County counselor was arrested earlier this month during a drug bust at a D.C. bar, school officials say.
Erin McKenna, a counselor at Sherwood High School, was arrested February 1 at Mason Inn on Wisconsin Avenue NW.
She is facing a misdemeanor charge of possession with intent to distribute marijuana. She will appear in court on March 7.
The school’s principal, William Gregory, sent a letter to parents Wednesday night to inform them of the charge.
"We are committed to providing a safe learning environment for our students," he wrote in the letter. "We have followed all of our reporting protocols and are working with MCPS central office administration on this matter."
McKenna is on administrative leave from the school, pending the results of the investigation.
